I went on a little vacation, and it looks like I forgot to come back.
Well, looks can be deceiving!
I did come back from vacation. I arrived to find my cat ridiculously pampered by the girl we left in charge and everything else just as I had left it. Which includes the floors needing sweeping, the laundry needing folding and putting away, and disorganization everywhere. I usually clean before I go anywhere so I can come home to peace and no chores, but--I had packed that last couple of weeks before I left so jam-full that it was impossible to keep up with housework too. To that existing bunch of chores waiting for me to return I brought MORE loads of laundry, bags and boxes to be unpacked, and about 1500 photos (not bad actually).
We arrived late on Saturday night (actually, early on Sunday morning) and collapsed into our beds. On Sunday we napped. A lot. And wandered through the house like wraiths. On Monday we unpacked the car...directly into the livingroom. And then Princess and I went grocery shopping. And then came home and made supper. And then we collapsed again. It was the most we could handle.
(Except--confession time: Hubby had downloaded Torchwood, which had aired while we were gone, and we sat and watched all 5 episodes that night. They were explosive and if anyone wants to discuss, I'm game!)
The rest of the week followed a pattern of wandering through the mornings, taking naps, reading, taking the kids to the library, and doing a few photo edits. Not as many as I wanted to do, but my brain appears to have been left in Ontario. Yikes!
(Did you notice I didn't mention housework? Yeah. I'm avoiding digging in. And I do mean digging. If you come to my house you will be greeted on the front step and not invited in. Because I VALUE YOUR EYEBALLS.)
THIS week.....well, this week has been pretty much consumed by this:
...because for reasons that are currently unclear I thought it would be good to have swimming lessons right after vacation. So we all get up with the alarm, eat breakfast, hop in the car and drive to Fredericton for the kid's lessons. (It takes longer to get there than the lessons last--wheee!) Then the kids want to do something in the afternoon. We've been to the Butterfly House, McDonald's, the Garden Centre, out for ice cream, swimming at the lake, and lots of time at the library.
Actually, proud mom moment right here:
The kids came home from the library, sat in a circle, and proceeded to read a book, pass it on, and read again. They worked their way through 27 books while I watched with a tear in my eye. I have READERS!!! I can't even tell you what that does to my bibliophile's heart. Somewhere, somehow, I did something RIGHT!
Ok, back on track: busy, busy, blah, blah, summer, blah, excuses, excuses, blah, blah, blah. That about sums it up! ;)
One more week of swimming lessons to get through, but I feel I'm finding my footing, so I'll try cranking out some posts so you don't miss the highlights. Upcoming posts:
Road Trip! (aka It's Good to be Home. Wherever that is.)
My Brother-in-Law the Genius
Wedding Jitters and Joy
The Day My Mom Became a Musical
Dear Charlie, I want my life back
Mmm, mmm, good
And more! Have I peaked your interest? Hope so! Plus all the stuff we've been doing since we got back and maybe some from before we left. The good news? I finally have enough blog fodder to get me through the winter. Ha Ha!
So stay tuned--and in the meantime, feel free to update me on what's new with YOU!
