When Hubby and I first moved to New Brunswick as newlyweds 9 years ago, we were immediately asked to work with a group of 8-11 year olds that included the younger siblings of my Saturday newlyweds. I knew the siblings best at the time, but once you meet one member of a family you end up meeting them all. Kyra was quiet and reserved with a will of iron and a respect for rules. Ben was outgoing with a cheeky grin, an equal will and a love of bending those rules.
Sparks flew when they were together, and not in a good way.
In short, they got on each other's nerves.
We hadn't been there long when Ben's family was posted out west. I don't believe Kyra was all that sad to see Ben go, though she may have missed his sisters a bit.
Fast forward several years. They've both grown up and away from their families, both ended up in Halifax. And guess what? Neither finds the other nearly as annoying as they did all those years ago. In fact, they soon become good friends. Then better friends. Then best friends. And somewhere in there, those sparks they used to throw off all those years ago became sparks of a different sort.
And these best friends got married.
(I just love it when that happens)
They're still throwing off PLENTY of sparks, but not the kind you can mind.
Plus they're gorgeous, and that never hurts anything.
After Ben left, I got to work in the youth program with Kyra and I got to know her quite well. I feel a little like she's mine, and seeing her so happy and in love made me tear up a little.
I love these two, and so, apparently, does my camera!
Ben and Kyra, I'm so glad I got to see you on Saturday and that we got to take some photos together. I hope you love them and I'll be in touch when they're all ready for you. In the meantime, enjoy married life!
Oh, and since I made you drive to a second location for this one and you didn't even know what I was after....
