To all of you who pointed me in the right direction for PSE help.
Thanks to you, my family is starving and my house is a mess. I wish I was kidding.
I'm slowly getting less afraid, though I wouldn't go so far as to say I've got the hang of it yet. I've got the Sprague Lab in my reader and will definitely take at least one class there if I buy (thanks to Evalyn, I'm considering Lightroom instead, and thanks to Hubby, I'm reminded that I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HomeEdition already--another program I have no idea how to use). I've got a Kelby at my side, thanks to Cali Girl and a lead on one at the library, thanks to Neisey.
I got a little practical work yesterday following step by step instructions from PioneerWoman found here. I had this little gem on my camera:
Now I love my boy, and I love the expression on his face and his little frozen red nose, but this photo could be so much better. I know it!
I did my best to "fix" it in Picasa, warming it up a smidge and adding some highlights:
But still not in love, you know? He looks less frozen and more jaundiced. Oops! Plus, I really want to grab those blue eyes and make them pop, the way they usually do to my heart. So I tried to do what Pioneer Woman told me:
And now we're getting somewhere! Ok, he looks more frozen than before, obviously I need a lot of work to figure out how to improve skin tones, but those beautiful baby blues are starting to pull me in more.
So obviously I have a lot to learn, but you guys have set me on the right path! Thanks! (Next step, figure out how to create canvas so I can do collages and side-by-side photo comparisons.)
*The timing is heaven-sent: I found this amazing blog this morning. Not only does it have lots of Elements tutorials and free actions, but she's giving away a copy of PSE 7 this month! I'm off to play some more!
