Hallowe'en has never really been my holiday (except for the part about the free candy), but every year I start scanning the fields for this:
Every year these ghosts come to dance and celebrate Hallowe'en in a local farmer's field. They appear up to a couple of weeks before the eve to dance with joy at the season and are gone by All Saint's Day. They always appear in a different location and it's fun for us to keep an eye out for them. This year I was delighted to see them dancing around this tree for the first time in several years. I love when they choose the tree to dance around! Seeing them makes me so happy, and the kids love to watch for the ghosts. It feels more like a holiday once they appear.
Of course, we may skimp but never skip the holiday ourselves. The kids have got their costumes and are ready to go. I have our handful of decorations located and will put them up today (I like to get the Princess's birthday celebrated before moving on to the next holiday). We have gathered our pumpkins and even pre-decorated a couple:
Googly eyes make the world a friendlier place. And smiles of course. Just ask this guy:
So cheerful! Happy Hallowe'en ghosties! Keep dancin!
