Swimming lessons are done!
We had a lot of fun, but I'm so glad that's over! Let's just say that the Boy, while always the first to awake in the morning, is NOT a morning person, especially around snack time. Yikes that was a lot of whining.
Whining and tears aside, I'm proud of my little troop (troupe?):
Sweetpea threw herself whole-heartedly into the entire experience and loved every second. On both the first and second days she cried when her lesson time was over, and there were more tears today and big hugs for the teacher. She learned that she loves being under water (and hey Grandma--she's a sinker!) and was the only one of the three to pass their level. You go girl! She says she likes this as much as gymnastics, but why can't she do both? (Oh, the joys of a budget.)
The Boy was NERVOUS, but gave it his best shot. Ok, his best shot usually involved him wrapping himself as tightly as possible around his instructor until returned to the side of the pool, but he was willing to try, and he always came and went with a big smile on his face. For a three year old, that's good enough for me!
The Princess showed the most improvement. From the first week when she was afraid to even get into the water, to the end when she did whatever her instructor asked (without tears!) and even putting her head under. It was a VAST improvement and I'm so proud of her. There was a complete turn around from one week to the next. I'm not sure what happened over the weekend, but she screwed up her courage big time. It was a super parenting moment. Even the other parents in the observation area noticed and were cheering her on.
So that swallowed up all of our mornings, and we just needed to find ways to entertain ourselves (for FREE?) in Fredericton for the afternoons. I think we did a pretty good job, and I've got a ton to tell you about--right after I catch up on reading two weeks worth of YOUR blog posts (why, oh why did swimming lessons happen at the same time as a certain bloggy getaway? I'm afraid to look at my feed reader.).
In the meantime, if a picture's worth a thousand words, this should bring us up to my usual level of fluff. Enjoy!
ETA: Can you let me know if you can see the slideshow or not? It was working fine for me last night, but this morning it doesn't seem to be playing. Help!
ETA (again) It seems to be working ok. If you're on the main page for awhile before you get to this post, it stops playing. Just hit the refresh button and you'll be fine :)
