Finally, a deadline comes to my rescue again (coupled with dh calling to say he'd be late home for supper--what else should I do with a gift of 45 minutes?) and I finished up late this afternoon.
The challenge this week?
Create a 30-minute layout using AT LEAST:
-1 photo of yourself
-3" of ribbon
The hardest part of that? Finding a photo of myself. Yikes! I've been making great strides over the past year to get out from behind the camera more and be IN some of our family photos....but I haven't printed any of those yet. I did eventually find one though....
To boost the challenge quotient, my LSS posted a "welcome back challenge" to celebrate the blog being updated for the first time in months. Yay! (I'm happy to report that the blog is hopping and it's nice to be reminded that there are local scrapbookers.) The challenge was to use this sketch:
So I combined the two challenges to come up with this:
This one has everything and the kitchen sink :) Lots of cardstock, pretty new patterned paper from my happy mail from Lain (Cloud 9 Designs), white ink (Versa Magic), oooooold whale die cut bought back in 1999 and finally getting used, CK KOTM stamps (ADVENTURE and sep), chipboard buttons (Love, Elsie), ribbon, and, as requested, bling (one tiny HS jewel to give the whale an eye). I also got to use the dh's compass, my own circle template, some embroidery floss, my punches (circle and corner, both EK Success) and at least 4 different adhesives, as each seemed to run out as I grabbed it.
I'm glad I got it done, and with the timer going, I didn't have time to second guess myself. Just go, go, go.
Thanks for stopping by to look!
I'm usually a loyal Simple Scrapbooks girl, but every now and then I stray and pick up another scrapbooking magazine. The last time I did so was in August, when I needed to entertain myself on a very long car ride. I did it again this month when I saw the pretty cover on the April issue of Scrapbooks Etc. It's a good magazine and an enjoyable issue. Apparently not entirely memorable enough though, as it seems I picked it up twice. Oops.
Anyone want a hardly looked at (I realized after I got it home that I'd seen it before) copy of Scrapbooks Etc.? Let me know in the comments. First come, first served!
