One of the great things about participating in the LOAD Challenge is getting to see all of the amazing LO's in the gallery there. With somewhere over 2400 people now involved, and the challenge being to create a LayOut A Day, the gallery fills up fast. I can enjoy about one hour--one hour scrolling through beautiful LO after beautiful LO. There are still many, many LO's I haven't seen, and more as I type this.
I try to comment on my favourites. Some of the LO's are so striking, or so simple as to be striking, that it just seems wrong not to comment.
Of course, when you comment, the person you just complimented often responds with a nice Thank You and sometimes some more info about their LO. I've noticed over the past couple of days that I keep commenting on the same people's LO's too--it turns out I really like their style.
And when they reply, I just have to go check out their blog (if they have one). That's how I found Katie Scott, who not only creates great pages and is very sweet, but has a very fun challenge series running on her blog. Nothing crazy, just simple prompts to help get the juices flowing.
As soon as I saw Challenge #13, I had to do it.
The challenge was to use the word "blink". Here's my page:
This is my middle little brother (I have 3) at 2 and 14. The journalling tells a bit about what a sweet little guy he was, how he grew into a sweet but troubled teen and eventually into a stong, sweet young man who faces his challenges. It seems I only blinked and that sweet little guy was grown and facing some terrible things. Fate dealt him a nasty hand, but he's playing it well and I admire him so much--more with every "blink". I just had to do this page for him, and for that alone I'm glad I signed up for this challenge.
Isn't it fun how these things work out?
