HERE YE, HERE YE!
THE CHILD FORMERLY KNOWN AS "GO-TO-GIRL" SHALL HERETOFORE BE KNOWN AS "SWEETPEA"
When I decided to start blogging I was concerned about the safety of my children. I did what many bloggers have done before; gave them false names to protect their identity.
The Princess and the Boy were easy because, well, the Princess IS a princess (or believes she is) and the Boy is our only boy...so, obvious choices.
When it came to my middle child though, I wasn't sure what to call her. She doesn't have an easily summarized identity. She is my cuddler, my artist, my wiggler and helper. She's always on the go, usually pleasant, incredibly patient, and very polite. In real life I've always (from birth; it actually predates her real name) called her "sweetie", "sweetiepea", "sweetiegirl", "sweetpea" and similar variations on that theme. One of the blogs that I read already calls her child sweetpea though, and I didn't want to "steal" the name. Since this girl is always helpful and rarely complains about anything, I named her "Go-to Girl". Except....I don't really like that. It's just one aspect of her personality and feels off in some way I can't explain. So, almost from the day I named her that, I've been racking my brain for a new bloggy name for her.
Then it hit me.
If my child was named "Jack", I wouldn't change the name if I found out there was another Jack in the neighbourhood! Also, a name like sweetpea? What are the chances that that's a particularly unique name in bloggyland? Hello?
So she is sweetpea.
She always was.
