We have been visited by more than our share of grief and illness lately, but lest you think we're wallowing in it, here's a little peek at what we did on Saturday.
Yes, my milk came in like a stab in the heart. Yes, the Boy woke up with the mumps. Yes, it was gray and dreary. But it's spring. My tulips and crocuses are blooming. The leaves are in bud. And on the farm where Sweetpea's best friend lives, the baby animals are everywhere. She's been begging to see them (hourly, it seems!), especially the two calves, so we slipped over there Saturday afternoon and had an hour visiting great friends and oohing and ahhing over baby animals. I even bottle fed the cutest little Jersey calf. So adorable! I didn't snap more than a handful of photos though, because I was living in the moment and grabbing at that window of calm and happy and NORMAL with both hands...which didn't leave one free for my camera.
We are not hiding under the bed (though it's tempting), but are actively seeking joy. We've been touched in such a way that we see miracles everywhere we turn, and we are all giving thanks for them.
Spring is here, and something special is beginning to bloom softly in our hearts.
We'll see how it develops.
